SAMPO is the local committee that is responsible for the urban transportation planning process, which allows San Antonio and Bexar County to receive over $200 million annually in federal and state transportation funding. They do this through three related activities: The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) , the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) , and the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) . SAMPO’s Board of Directors is called the Transportation Policy Board (TPB).
